The Zig Millennium Pen

My Zig Millennium pen and Triple Combination.

One of the most popular essays on "Mormon Insights" is entitled: "The True Way to Mark Scriptures." In that essay I argue that the best pen for marking scriptures is the Zig Millennium pen. The problem lately has been that many stores have stopped carrying the pen. Why? My fear was that this superior pen was being discontinued.

Well, I have the scoop.

The Zig Millennium pen is made by a Japanese company called Kuretake Co. Ltd. The primary American distributor began to cut back on the variety of products they offered. The pens figuratively began to dry up – at least in the United States.

But… MarkerSupply.Com of Nashville, Tennessee came to the rescue. The company told me, "We have been able to step in and start providing what they [the former distributer] no longer carry. So go ahead and promote with no fear!"

Why should YOU use a Zig Millennium pen? Could there be a more appropriate pen name for a Latter-day Saint?

The ink in the "Millennium" pen is acid free, archival quality, waterproof, fade proof, and non-bleeding. No other marking pens that I have ever used have worked as well. You will not see red ink on the opposite side of pages you mark. The flow of the ink does NOT smear or blot.

I recommend using a pure red Zig Millennium pen (width "01" or 0.25 mm). By the way, do NOT bother with smaller or bigger pen tips. The recommended pen width allows for underlining scriptural passages without crossing out text above or below the line. This pen width also allows for writing easily in the margins.

When marking with your Millennium pen use a steel straightedge. Be slow and meticulous. Strive for perfection, because mistakes are permanent.

The cost is a bargain. Buy them for the whole family, and as Christmas gifts.

By the way, I should state that I have absolutely NO profit-making connections with either Kuretake Co. Ltd or MarkerSupply.Com.

But, I have put my money where my mouth is. I just ordered 15 red pens. I plan to be marking scriptures through the Millennium (pun and pen intended, I suppose).

FOR FUN: My Army son took his Zig Millennium pen and scriptures with him to the Middle East. To celebrate his need for scripture, he took this most wonderful picture, shown below. Can you find the Millennium pen? Click on the picture to magnify

I wish I had this advice 8 years ago. In the past, I used one of those bic pens - that have four inks in one pen. Of course, it has completely bled through the pages.

Anyways. Thanks for the post, and the picture you included is great. (I have to admit, I love the tire in the background).

Love the promotion. Something that you can shamelessly promote so it can continue to be available to you personally but with a clear conscious because of its awesomeness. I might just order me some pens.

I have a similar hard to find product love. It does not fill such a high and holy purpose but I am going to order a case of TRAPPEY'S LOUISIANA ORIGINAL RECIPE HOT SAUCE, and give a bottle to each of my neighbors for Christmas. I haven't been able to find it locally for years, so once a year we order a case from MyBrands.com.

I feel like I need to create such a demand for it that some of my local stores will carry it again and do my little part to insure its production far into the future. As my brother aptly described, "It is so good that once you try it you start to invent meals simply as a vehicle for the sauce." and he never likes anything that I suggest he being my little brother and all. That's how good it is.

Thanks for the suggestion. Cheaper at the site you linked than on Amazon.com I'll note.

Yep it's a good pen, I only have one left so I'll have to do some searching.

I love the AT4 (rocket launcher) on the tire.

Hint. Hint. Don't search too hard. It's that time of the year, you know.

Just ordered $30 worth of pens based on your recommendation. They better be good! :)

Big Davy:

They are good, and if you are using them for scripture marking, then make sure you ordered the width "01."

This width size makes a big difference.

I'm not a Mormon, I'm a Baha'i, but I am a big time scripture-marker (and sometimes its even Mormon scriptures I am marking!) and a regular reader over here. Ever since I read your comment about the steel straight-edge I can't stand underlining my scriptures without a straightedge, and I have been standardising all my marking routines. Now all the Baha'is around me look at me weird in meetings or deepenings when I pull out a straightedge!

I'm buying a few zig-millenium pens, and actually doing a bit of casual research into marking techniques within the Baha'i Faith. Some Baha'is feel like marking the sacred texts is so disrespectful, and some like me, think it allows us to more fully experience their sacred nature. Interesting stuff actually.

So, thanks for the recommendation and the great blogging.

Thanks very much for your comment, and thanks for being interested in this blog site.

I strongly appreciate your comment that marking scriptures allows us to more fully appreciate their sacred nature. That definitely describes my experience. Besides, I believe that it is NOT the paper that is sacred; it is the words being understood that is sacred. I mark to understand.

I am confident that you will like Zig Millennium pens.

I am confused. Do I buy a .1 or
.25? I found a .05, would that work?
Thanks!

You want the "01" tip size. The code on the pen reads: PURE RED MS-01. If the red ink is out of stock, then find another supplier or just wait.

Where do you buy your pens at?

Have you compared these to the Sakura Micron pens? They have a VERY similar feature set, but I'd love to hear from someone who has used both before I invest in a set of them.

S.Faux said...

I have tried Micron pens, and they are inferior.

Rusty Curtis said...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Would you mind explaining how they are inferior?

S.Faux said...

I have found the Micron pen to bleed on thin scripture paper, and for the tips to wear quickly. I have never had these problems with the Zig pen that I am recommending.
